Hello,
You're welcome to everything fabulous with Mo.
I'm excited to be posting again. I didn't post last week, and I can say that in a way, the week passed me. Like the week went by, and all of a sudden I realized that it was Thursday and I didn't even post anything. Anyhoo, I'm happy to be posting again.
First, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY to women all over the world.
I'm happy that this year's theme is #choosetochallenge.
A special shout out to women all over the world. You're special and nobody should make you feel less than who you are, a queen.
When I saw the theme of this international women's day, I was excited, there are so many things that we as women can challenge right now. The beautiful thing about challenging things is that they bring changes.
I've noticed that when women challenge things, it's not the type that wallows and waits hoping that things will change, no, they go all out. They stand up, they move, and they work really hard to see those changes. If you think it looks farfetched, then let's go back a bit.
In November 1929, Igbo women protested against warrant chiefs and the fact that they were over taxes, even though their farm products were sold for low prices. In 1930, the warrant chief system was abolished, and women were given positions in governing.
Also, in 1947, Abeokuta women also revolted. They fought against high tax and the fact that they had no representation. The end of this protest led to more representation of women in the local council and women taxes were stopped.
History has shown that women have loud voices, and would always use their voices to challenge because they are socially conscious.
Presently, we can see that women will keep challenging the status quo as long as it is in sync with natural justice.
So, cheers to being a woman, keep challenging, keep finding your voice, and keep doing what feels right.
I'll leave you with this.
“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Proverbs 31:29
We are women and we can do excellently
